“Gignoux’s violin and viola playing demonstrated his thoroughgoing comfort with classical, jazz and folk idioms, including a penchant for quarter tones and thin timbre, the perfect atmosphere for creating a specific type of physic, one whose sound waves themselves engendered motion, in which small movements crescendoed into larger phrase architectures. The organic feel of the piece is a balm and can even be transfixing, watching dancers and instrumentalist all moving together, reverberating off one another.”
